The thematic axis « Adaptation of microorganisms to their environment » is an emerging axis of the BIP laboratory. This axis includes members of four teams (BIP01, BIP02, BIP05, BIP07, BIP08, BIP09).
By studying a panel of microorganisms ranging from bacteria to green algae and diatoms (Escherichia coli, Shewanella oneidensis, Aquifex aeolicus, Halorhodospira halophila, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, Thalassiosira pseudonana), we want to understand how microorganisms detect variations in their environment (detection systems, signal transduction) and provide an adapted response (transcriptome, proteome, or metabolism modifications, biofilm formation, chaperones, etc.). These questions are addressed by multi-scale and integrated approaches such as physiology, genetics, biochemistry, microscopy, or biophysics.
